Warning
The modeling and talent industry, like many other high profile businesses, is comprised of many good agencies and some that are only after your money. If someone wants money up front or requires that you pay them for photography or other services, be very cautious. Most agencies, including ours, offer models a variety of services but should not require that you use their services or that you pay for a full and fair evaluation.
If you are raw or developing talent and we feel we have clients to promote you too, you MUST have promotional tools and training. There isn’t a career, or business anywhere that doesn’t require a certain amount of “start-up” cost. Whether it is educational courses, business cards, or a furnished office and staff.
As a company with World Wide credentials our reputation is built on professionalism and service second to none. As a model or actor YOU are a walking billboard. You are the office and the business. You must stay healthy and in shape just like any olympic athlete.
Z-Cards:
Your business cards in this business are referred to as: Z-Cards. One side is a face shot and the flip side are fashion, commercial, or character shots. Your personal description and stats are listed and we like to include any special information such as: Multi or Bi-lingual, Horseback riding, Golf, Trick Roller Skating, Gymnastics, etc... To see Z-cards click on this link.
If you do not use our service for producing these “business cards” (Z-cards) please book mark the page for a professional fashion or commercial photographer to see. If you have not been to our training course in professional photography make-up or another professional training facility your photographer needs to hire a make-up artist for your different “looks”.
What constitutes a professional trainer? A graduate from a reputable academy and one who has actually worked or secured work for others for clients and was paid a fair rate for their services. See: About US. If you are in a market outside of our market areas BE WARNED: When out of town companies come in and set up in hotels or an agency has a place of business and insist on selling you photography services ask this question: “If I get my photos done by a professional photographer elsewhere will you still send me on auditions?” If the answer is: “NO.” Run!...and take your check book with you.
What is a Portfolio? We have recognizable faces all over the world that we have scouted for the majors or booked directly. In the REAL WORLD of modeling, you do NOT need to start out producing a portfolio! A portfolio is a book of your work that you got paid to do. It develops on it’s own. When the NY agents speak of a “strong book” they are referring to a book with pictures from jobs you did or a copy of the actual ad itself. That is what a portfolio is!
If you are accepted by this agency after seeing your evaluation photos (inexpensive snap shots) and are on a tight budget, we may advance you the retail cost (Not our “out of pocket cost”...too many models have gotten fat or tempted to run off to Toledo with some controlling boyfriend or girlfriend when they have nothing invested. We do all the work and are left with the expense). We will hold out any outstanding cost for photography, training seminars or cosmetics out of your checks until you have paid back all that was advanced to aid you in getting started in this business. If we do not get you work? You owe nothing!
If you are interested in modeling/acting as a career you must leave this secondary market. You must move to a market such as: NY. Paris, London, Tokyo, LA etc.. A career would allow you, at the very least, to work 3-days a week and make as much as someone with a good factory job(including benefits). At best? Six figures or above! It does happen but not as often as the “least” I just mentioned.
A secondary market is a good place to start in building tear sheets for your book. It may help you in quitting that “day job” in large market areas a little sooner! Remember...You are self-employed and must educate yourself and create a tax-saving account to pay “Uncle Sam”.
